Inside HRC’s dangerous, sloppy, and dishonest ‘trans youth’ white paper

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation takes its job as a propaganda pusher for the progressive left very seriously. The alphabet cult organization recently put out a lengthy “educational” document on the issue of so-called transgender minors, but it is rife with falsehoods and inconsistencies.

The title of the publication, “Supporting Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender-Expansive Children: Navigating Care in a Complicated Political Landscape”, should be enough to set off alarm bells in any reader’s mind. In the introduction, HRC admits that much of the information provided comes from first-hand accounts of families who have dealt with transgender children. It does not explain how these accounts were most assuredly hand-picked to conform to a one-sided narrative in a highly controversial and hotly contested topic. Nowhere does the document acknowledge the growing number of detransitioners who now have buyer’s remorse.

In the white paper–intended as a definitive guide for policy makers, doctors, activists, and media figures–HRC makes a point to name-drop and demonize Elon Musk as a “high profile, anti-trans celebrity” who uses his platform to “perpetuate lies about trans people.” Not mentioned, of course, is that Musk dealt with radical gender ideology affecting his own child, and he has suffered a rift in his family because of it.

In a recent interview with author Jordan Peterson, Musk opened up about his struggles with his adolescent child who came out as transgender. He describes how his son became a victim of the “woke mind virus” as a minor. Musk says he was told his son would commit suicide if he did not sign all of the papers allowing for his son to go on puberty blockers. Musk has even gone as far to say that he felt his son was, for all intents and purposes, dead.

“I lost my son. They call it ‘deadnaming’ for a reason. The reason it’s called ‘deadnaming’ is because, your son is dead. So my son is dead, killed by the woke mind virus,” Musk stated. Musk’s personal heartbreaking experience does not fit the desired narrative, so HRC felt it best to disparage him and ignore his first-hand experience with transing minors.

The propaganda-laden publication then laid out three “myths” of transgender youth; however, those myths are, in fact, all true–even by HRC’s admission. First, HRC claims it is a myth to assert that “the number of [transgender or gender expansive] youth is growing.” Yet, the writers do not dispute that the number of children identifying as transgender is increasing—that fact has been well documented. Instead, they question the reason why the number is increasing.

“Although it is difficult to determine how many people are transgender, the latest estimates suggest that there are about 1.4 million transgender adults in the United States — about six transgender people per thousand adults — and younger people are more likely to be openly transgender. While still likely underestimated, the reported increase in numbers results from several factors…” the paper states. Clearly the “myth” is not a myth if they admit it is true—last I checked, the words “growing” and “increase” were synonymous.

But the real point HRC’s trans Pravda attempts to make is that social contagion is not a cause of the growing number of trans youth. While, perhaps, it is true that one cannot prove definitely that social pressures and popularity of being seen as “different” are a causation, the correlation of the two cannot be denied and has been scientifically studied. Research shows a link between transgenderism, especially in girls, simply being a fad. With lack of a better theory, social contagion remains the most plausible reason for the increase.

The second “myth” HRC tackles: “gender expansiveness is not ‘normal’ development.” In effect, HRC argues that tomboys and tomgirls exist. Groundbreaking stuff. It’s safe to say that point is not up for debate. What is absurd, however, is to make a connection between the likes and proclivities of a child to their sex. Why should a boy who enjoys playing with dolls automatically be labeled as trans or gender non-conforming? Why should a girl who enjoys baseball be told to cut off her hair and wear a chest binder? It seems a bit regressive to enforce sex-based stereotypes and assume transgenderism due to a child’s interests. In fact, a growing number of gay rights activists see this dangerous idea as a form of gay erasure or even medicalized conversion therapy.

The most dangerous, and profitable, lie that HRC tells in its publication surrounds the medical and surgical transitioning of minors. The document tries to assert that it is a myth that minors are receiving hormone blockers and/or transitional surgeries. “An incendiary idea presented by those opposed to gender-affirming care is that children are being treated with medication or undergoing surgery. This is patently false,” HRC writes.

As it turns out, the “incendiary idea” is patently true. The New York Post reported this week of the existence of a database that tracks minors receiving medical care for transgenderism. Almost 14,000 children have received some type of gender-related medical treatment with over 5,700 of them undergoing actual surgical procedures.

HRC again be-clowns itself by admitting this “myth” is pretty much true. “Medical intervention is important and appropriate to discuss as puberty approaches,” the Foundation writes. Puberty starts before a child turns 18, which means the HRC Foundation is openly in favor of giving puberty blockers to minors—an idea that was just painted a blatant falsehood.

It is also important to clarify some language used around puberty blockers. Many in the media will say that these hormone suppressing drugs are “not permanent”. However, HRC takes great care to at least use the correct descriptor—“reversible”. There is a big difference here. It is technically true that puberty blockers are reversible because the body will begin to produce the puberty-inducing hormones as soon as the patient stops the medication. But just because it is reversible does not mean there is not a permanent change.

Halting a natural biological process, even if it is just temporary, is still a permanent change to a body. That body can not return to its original state, age, and size and undergo puberty as God intended retroactively. Trans activists who claim that a child is not permanently changed by taking puberty blockers are blatantly lying. Yet it is unknown how many times that lie has been broadcast to parents in hopes of convincing them to placate their child’s fleeting gender whims.

These points are just the tip of the iceberg. But what should be more concerning is that the people who believe and push this drivel have the ear of doctors who’ve destroyed many thousands of lives and lawmakers who enact policy. HRC has been in bed with Democrats and progressives for decades. A potential Kamala Harris administration and a Democrat-led Congress would use this poor excuse for research when writing executive orders and crafting legislation. Lawyers have an old saying: “Bad facts make bad law”. HRC’s bad facts undoubtedly are on their way to making horrific law.
