Pride and Prejudice: Smyrna Pride Exposes the Left’s Intolerance

In yet another demonstration of the left’s selective “inclusivity,” organizers of Smyrna Pride in Georgia attempted to ban the Log Cabin Republicans (GLCR) from participating in their event. The reason? Simply being conservative. Despite the left’s constant preaching about diversity and acceptance, it seems that tolerance has its limits—especially when it comes to LGBT conservatives who refuse to fall in line with progressive orthodoxy.

The Hypocrisy of Liberal ‘Inclusion’

Smyrna Pride, like most pride events, claims to celebrate all members of the LGBT community. Yet when the Georgia Log Cabin Republicans applied to participate, they were met with resistance and outright exclusion. Organizers initially refused their presence, making it clear that “pride” is only for those who toe the leftist line.

While Smyrna Pride claimed the denied application was due to a new ban on “political groups”, strangely the left-leaning Gay, Inc. organizations like HRC were welcome to join.

This is the same tired script we’ve seen over and over. The left champions “diversity” until it encounters views that challenge its political agenda. The message is loud and clear: conservatives—no matter their sexual orientation—are not welcome.

Legal Battle and Liberal Backpedaling

Rather than accept this blatant discrimination, the Georgia Log Cabin Republicans took action. With legal pressure mounting, Smyrna Pride’s organizers were forced to relent. This victory wasn’t just a win for one organization; it was a win for free speech, true inclusivity, and the principle that the LGBT community is not a political monolith.

More importantly, this fight revealed another inconvenient truth for the left: the Republican Party stood firmly behind GLCR. The Georgia Republican Party, led by Chairman Joshua McKoon, stepped in to support the group, further dismantling the left’s tired narrative that the GOP is hostile to LGBT Americans.

For years, liberals have insisted that Republicans want to erase LGBT voices. Yet here we have the Georgia GOP standing with Log Cabin Republicans against an exclusionary, left-wing pride organization. The reality is clear: conservatives are the real champions of free expression, while progressives increasingly embrace ideological purity tests that punish dissenters.

A Call to Action for Conservative LGBT Americans

The Smyrna Pride debacle is just another example of why conservative LGBT voices must continue to speak out. The left’s grip on the LGBT community is slipping, and the more they resort to exclusion and censorship, the more obvious their hypocrisy becomes.

If pride is truly about celebrating diversity, then all viewpoints—including conservative ones—should be welcomed. It’s time to reject the left’s gatekeeping and stand firm in the belief that you can be both proudly LGBT and proudly conservative.

After rejecting the conditions on their participation, the GLCR will now be permitted to participate under the same conditions as any other vendor.

The Georgia Log Cabin Republicans’ victory in Smyrna proves one thing: when we stand up for our rights, we win. And no amount of liberal intolerance can change that.
