If LGBTs want respect, we shouldn’t mock the faith of 2 billion people

The Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games are used to showcase the art, history, and culture of the city and country where they are being held. At least, that’s how it used to be. On Friday, this year’s ceremony in Paris was studded with profane and even blasphemous scenes mocking both morality and Christianity.

One of the opening scenes of the ceremony played into the trope that Paris is the city of love. Rather than a melange of happy and affectionate couples, a more woke scene played out on the screen. Three gender-ambiguous, bizarrely dressed clowns pranced around a library pulling sexually suggestive book titles from the shelves. The three genderless Bozos apparently simultaneously experienced love-at-first-sight leading them straight into the bedroom to begin a throuple. Get it? A ménage-à-trois, that’s French, right? Except even your average Parisian would probably agree a partner’s genitals shouldn’t be like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates—you should always know what you’re going to get.

If a non-binary love triangle were the worst display of the opening ceremony, it could be overlooked. However, what came next didn’t just cross the line of decency, it tea-bagged it with the testicles of one performer on full display during the lewd celebration.

But Paris wasn’t finished turning off the world. After a ludicrous parade of drag queens and bearded crossdressers stomped down a catwalk, the camera panned to a shot where the runway became a table and the drag queens lined up behind it striking poses very reminiscent to Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper”. In the center, a rotund lesbian whose cleavage left nothing to the imagination was crowned with what appeared to be a halo mocking the image of Jesus Christ.

In the Catholic religion, it is believed that during the Last Supper, Jesus transformed the bread and wine into his body and blood as a remembrance of the sacrifice he was about to make in his crucifixion. This belief was further mocked as a cloche revealed the dinner to be a naked man painted in blue and dressed as the pagan god Dionysus. The nightmarish smurf then sang a song entitled “Nu”, which translates to “Naked”.

Immediately, the spectacle was denounced and ridiculed by the likely people. Catholic bishops around the world called out the mockery. “This ceremony has unfortunately included scenes of derision and mockery of Christianity, which we very deeply deplore,” a conference of French bishops reportedly said in a statement.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson also posted about the ceremony on X. “Last night’s mockery of the Last Supper was shocking and insulting to Christian people around the world who watched the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games,” he wrote.

Of course, President Joe Biden, a self-professed devout Catholic, has said nothing about the scorn paid to his religion. Similarly, coup leader and presumptive Democrat nominee Kamala Harris has remained silent—probably because on the same day she released a campaign ad in partnership with RuPaul’s Drag Race pandering to the people who revel over mocking Christianity.

But perhaps the most important post condemning the scene was a call-to-action from lesbian fitness expert Jillian Michaels. “Dear fellow gays… We demand tolerance and respect but then make a mockery of something sacred for over 2 billion Christians. This type of hypocrisy and lack of understanding is a bad look. We get outraged when the extreme right bashes us, but then we do this shit. What kind of reaction do you think they will have towards the LGBTQ+ community after this. This is NOT how we break down barriers it’s how you build them,” Michaels wrote on X.

She is absolutely correct. The poster children for the “community” are now these gender-bending mental patients. Regular gays and lesbians have been erased and replaced and are expected to condone being represented by people who have no common ground. When they do things like mock a religion practiced sincerely by billions of people on a world stage, the majority of rational homosexuals will pay the price. People and political parties that have finally come around to embracing us may soon regret that decision and for good reason. That is why the most important and effective voice to denounce this insanity comes from within the community.

Michaels’s post also begs another question. Why is it that Christianity receives the ire and mockery when many Islamic countries still execute gays and lesbians simply for existing?

The most probable answer is egocentrism. Undoubtedly, these irrational self-professed “queers” were raised in or around Christianity. They probably heard the phrase “God hates queers” a few times which instilled in them a sense of victimhood. Instead of divorcing the speech of misguided zealots from the real, loving tenets of Christianity, they rebelled completely leaving behind any sense of morality. To fill the void of religion, they embrace amorality and worship the self with an inverted pious mantra “Queers hate God”.

This is the only way to explain the obliviousness of the artistic director Thomas Jolly—also a gay man—and all of the performers. Being so wrapped up in their own egocentric religion of the self, they had no idea that what they were doing was offensive or wrong. Jolly basically said as much when he heard about the backlash, claiming: “My wish isn’t to be subversive, nor to mock or to shock. Most of all, I wanted to send a message of love, a message of inclusion and not at all to divide.”

The empty apologies and feigning remorse mean nothing when the intention was clear. Barbara Butch, the lesbian in the center of the table mocking Jesus Christ, posted a celebratory message on her Instagram story, exclaiming: “OH YES! OH YES! THE NEW GAY TESTAMENT!”

Enough is enough. Other mainstream gays and lesbians need to take a cue from Michaels and condemn the radical “queer” fringe of the LGBT community. Condemn the transing of children and the destruction of women’s sports. Condemn the mockery of any religion even if you don’t follow it. When we let the loud minority speak for us, we are guilty by association.
