LGBTs are being used as guinea pigs by pill-pushing Democrats

Robert Garcia and Barbara Lee, two leftist representatives from California, are dangling ‘free’ drugs in the faces of gay Americans with no regard to the dangers they might pose. The two Democrats are trying to influence the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) to require health insurance providers to provide anti-STI drugs to patients for free. While it seems a noble act on the surface, the reason behind the apparent “need” for these drugs and the consequences of their overuse are much more sinister.

First of all, nothing is free. Health insurance is basically socialized medicine, just more efficient than, say, how Canada does it. Costs for all those drugs are simply passed on to other customers, the majority of whom will never want or need anti-STI drugs. Skyrocketing insurance rates have coincided with insurers being required (at first on the state level and now federally) to provide customers with PreP–a drug that helps preempt HIV infection. PreP costs upwards of $1800 for a one-month supply and requires regular doctor visits, which adds significantly to the cost.

HIV and AIDS killed so many in the LGBT community in the 1980s and 1990s, it is rightly regarded as a dangerous boogeyman when compared to other STDs and STIs. Taking PreP, a daily pill, was therefore seen as a game-changer since it made HIV infection nearly impossible when taken correctly. But, as a result, gay men have largely stopped using condoms and cases of other STIs have skyrocketed.

In 2021, the USPSTF granted PreP an “A-rating”, meaning common use of the drug would be beneficial to society. According to the government agency’s website, an A-rating means, “The USPSTF recommends the service. There is high certainty that the net benefit is substantial.” A provision of Obamacare mandates that any drug with an A-rating by USPSTF must be provided by health insurers to the public at no out-of-pocket cost. Consequently, PreP has been given out like candy to the LGBT community leading to a resurgence of infections like gonorrhea and chlamydia.

An antibiotic being marketed as doxy PEP is aimed at reducing that explosion in STIs. Doxy PEP is basically a morning-after pill for STIs. It is intended to help prevent the patient from becoming infected after having unprotected sex. Doxy PEP is not supposed to be used on a regular basis.

But, of course, it’s already being used that way.

Now Robert Garcia, a gay congressman, and Barbara Lee are lobbying USPSTF to give doxy PEP an A-rating, so it can be available for “free” to the gay community. In fact, in a press release on the issue, Garcia mentioned the rise in STIs as if it is a natural occurrence and not a result of a community’s poor behavior. “Surging STIs are disproportionately impacting LGBTQ+ individuals,” Garcia said. “We must ensure that these folks have access to doxy PEP, a critical medication that can save lives and prevent these kinds of infections.”

With an A-rating, doxy PEP would then be mandated to be covered by insurers. In order to combat HIV infections, instead of pushing safer sex practices, the gays are pumped full of PreP. With PreP and a resurgence of STIs, again instead of promoting safe sex, the gays will be pumped full of doxy PEP. And it’s all on the government, and everyone else’s, dime.

Then there’s the obvious concern: while PreP does not lead to mutations in the HIV virus, doxy PEP is an antibiotic and we’ve been told for decades that overuse and misuse of antibiotics leads to drug-resistant strains of the disease with dire consequences for public health.

Selling the myth of a consequence-free life seems to be the modus operandi of the Democrats. If an illegal migrant crosses the border, give him free healthcare, an ID, and a pathway to citizenship. If, during the Covid shutdown, a struggling alcoholic needs to go to an AA meeting at the local church that the government has shuttered, make sure the liquor store next door is open and well stocked. If a person suffering with sex addiction contracts syphilis over and over again, do everything you can to make it easier for him to go for another round–no matter how much he might be suffering emotionally and mentally.

The only problem is doxy PEP is not supposed to be a magical cure to be used freely and consistently–but that’s exactly what’s already happening. I asked a nurse who has worked in HIV clinics his thoughts. “It is important to note that doxy PEP should be used under medical supervision, as inappropriate use of antibiotics can contribute to antibiotic resistance and may have side effects. Additionally, it is not a replacement for other preventative measures like condoms or regular STI testing.”

Even the CDC admits that more research is needed on this drug noting that overuse may lead to the creation of antibiotic resistant strains of STIs. Plus the drug could have drastic effects on a patient’s internal, natural bacteria. The CDC website says that important questions still remain regarding “potential long-term development of antimicrobial resistance and impacts on the microbiome.”

But none of that matters to Democrats hustling for Big Pharma who are happy to see the LGBT community exist in a persistent, medicalized state. In fact, they’ve now added the monkeypox vaccine to the ever-expanding gay drug schedule required to be their version of a gay man. And what is the push to trans people at younger and younger ages if not to create lifelong customers for the medical industry?

Democrats Garcia and Lee are once again preying on the gays in hopes that by giving their sex lives the government stamp of approval, they may ensure the community votes blue in future elections. They don’t care about the long term effects or the consequences, particularly on public health at-large. They encourage behavior that ultimately doesn’t make anyone feel happy. When a drug resistant strain of chlamydia wipes out a portion of the immunocompromised gays they helped create, they’ll take no responsibility. In fact, they will probably find a way to blame Trump for it.
